At sunset, Hana arrived at the hillside station. It was the last evening of summer, and the old mountain train was making its final journey. She held a sketch of the valley, an heirloom from her past. One tiny star marked a place beyond the last tunnel. As the train climbed, the town became a cluster of warm lights beneath a violet sky. Hana watched the mountains gather around the windows. Beyond the tunnel, she found the lake from the drawing. A thousand floating lanterns were moving slowly across its still surface. Hana stood by the water. The train waited while she made one new mark on the sketch: a little circle beside the star. This time, the memory was hers.
